Life transitions happen for many at traditional junctures--childhood to adolescence, etc. But for many of us, they come out of order, out of nowhere. Life transitions happen when we face trauma, terror, illness, death, grief, our imperfection or inconsistency, our mortality, or our defensiveness about what we think we need.
